Elizabeth GreeneLiz was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and lived in the west before moving east to the Peninsula with her family. As a young artist her work was picked to be in a permanent collection in Tucson, AZ. She has fond memories of taking art classes from Ms. Agnes Johnson, co-founder of the PFAC, and Mr. Ken Bowen in high school. In 1977 she was chosen for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts “3 Days in March” residency program. Her artwork has won awards and been in numerous exhibitions and collections here in Hampton Roads and on the East Coast. Shortly after The Charles H. Taylor Art Center opened, Liz starting showing her artwork there and in 2000 won “Best in Show” at the Hampton Bays Day Juried Art Exhibition. In 2003 she was awarded a fellowship at The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts funded by the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Over the years she has volunteered for several groups, art organizations and on the Fine Arts Advisory Board at Thomas Nelson Community College. Liz loves her family, the blues, gardening and the water.
