These five established and emerging artists will be exhibiting thoughtful and innovative art works in a variety of contemporary media, which stretch our notions about what art is. Ken Daley’s neon pieces offer both insight and sometimes humor in word play imagery. Rosa Gema Doughty’s multi media works deal with her concern about the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay through references to parapsychology and photographs of herself in artist-made costumes of historical characters. Taylor Maida makes functional art objects that place an emphasis on being respectful of an everyday product or action. Tracy Maida creates multi media installations centered on the concepts of honesty, communication and being human. Virginia Van Horn creates life size, non-traditional animal sculptures that explore the intimate connection between the animal kingdom and the human condition.
