Alice in Wonderland, Jr. Rehearsals

Our talented group of home-schoolers are preparing for a spectacular performance of Alice in Wonderland, Jr. this May! The show follows one of Disney's most beloved heroines in her madcap adventures, with song and dance numbers performed by beginning and intermediate students under the age of 18.

"The audience can look forward to being wowed all the way through, especially with 'Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah,'" said Assistant Education Manager Claire Geary.

As part of the Hampton Arts Education programming, participants are given instruction in acting, dance, voice, set design and construction, as well as costume design and construction.

"The level of natural ability and enthusiasm that this group of young actors has motivates me everyday to become a more creative director. I am not directing Alice in Wonderland, Jr., they are. Every idea and suggestion from the students has been considered, and most have been incorporated into the show," said Geary.

Although the Home-School Program is fairly new, we've doubled the number of registrants since its inception last fall! Along with Geary, Arts Education Manager Hugo Morrison is gearing up to launch a brand-new arts program to be held this summer at The American Theatre-- keep an eye out for more information!

Performances of Alice in Wonderland, Jr. will be on Friday, May 10 at 1pm and Saturday, May 11 at 6pm. Tickets will be on sale soon.
