Cécile McLorin Salvant

Cécile McLorin Salvant graces the American Theatre with her silky jazz sound that earned her a 2016 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album, For One To Love.  Salvant’s natural curiosity for the history of American music and the connections between jazz, vaudeville, blues, and folk music, informs her unique performance style, which often includes rarely recorded, forgotten songs with strong stories.

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Cécile McLorin Salvant moved to Aix-en-Provence, France, to study classical and baroque music, and it was here that she developed a love for jazz. Since winning the Thelonious Monk competition in Washington D.C., she has toured clubs, concert halls and festivals, and is sure to deliver a stylish and captivating evening of music.  This is a not to be missed event on The American Theatre stage.
