Harlem 100: A Harlem Renaissance Celebration Featuring Mwenso & The Shakes
In celebration of its 100th anniversary, The Harlem Renaissance comes alive in a thrilling multi-media show that pays tribute to the sights and sounds of legendary artists that defined a generation. Created in collaboration with the National Jazz Museum, Harlem 100 brings to life the legendary songs and words of Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Langston Hughes, and others.
The modern variety show pays homage to the famous acts that once appeared at the Apollo Theater, the Cotton Club and other celebrated venues of the Harlem Renaissance. Hosted by Michael Mwenso and featuring a nine-piece band and three dancers, Harlem 100 shines a spotlight on one of the most culturally significant periods in American history.
