The HeART of Hampton: Episode 15

In this episode of The HeART of Hampton, we move all over Hampton Roads! We welcome visual artists Alan and Kristin Skees; Adam Newland of Hampton's own Bluebird Gap Farm, and Education Manager Aaron Lovelady of the Virginia Air & Space Center.

Alan and Kristin Skees both teach in the art department at Christopher Newport University. They completed their BFA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and MFA at the University of Arizona. They both live in Hampton and work in a variety of mediums, including photography and printing making, and fibers.

We’ll also talk to Adam Newland, Farm Manager for the City of Hampton’s Bluebird Gap Farm. The farm is a 60 acre home to around 150 domestic and wild animals. Beyond the common farm animals like cows, pigs and chickens, Bluebird Gap Farm is also home to birds of prey, llamas, alpacas, peacocks, rabbits and more!

Also joining us is Aaron Lovelady from the Virginia Air & Space Center. A staple of the Hampton Roads region, museum and educational facility features an IMAX digital theater and summer aeronautics and space-themed camps, and also serves as the visitors center for NASA’s Langley Research Center and Langley Air Force Base. Aaron will treat us to a mini tour of the exciting aircraft in the museum’s main gallery.
