What goes together better than bluegrass and a nice cold brew? The American Theatre is proud to present the 2nd Annual Coastal Virginia Bluegrass and Brew Festival which welcomes a trio of legendary artists with unique bluegrass styles and some of Coastal Virginia's finest local breweries. These amazing musicians will expose you to the full scope of their immense talents while also gaining a deeper understanding of the evolution of bluegrass music throughout Virginia and beyond!


Dustbowl Revival

FRIDAY JANUARY 25 at 8PM

L.A. Weekly’s Rob Sheffield describes the ensemble’s live performances as “upbeat, old-school, All-American sonic safaris exemplify everything shows should be: hot, spontaneous, engaging and, best of all, a pleasure to hear.”


Steep Canyon Rangers

SATURDAY JANUARY 26 at 8PM

The North Carolina-based sextet has been trailblazing a wholly original musical aesthetic by infusing their signature sound with elements of pop, country, folk rock and more.


Jackass Flats

SUNDAY JANUARY 27 at 3PM

A terrific conclusion to this year’s festival, Richmond-native Jackass Flats delivers original renditions from some of the music industry’s most iconic names, including Johnny Cash, Smokey Robinson, Prince, The Rolling Stones, and more.


Bull Island Brewing Company Master Brewer Michael Paine oversees five flagship beers and a rotating roster of creative seasonal favorites at Hampton’s oldest waterfront brewery.
 

The Oozlefinch Craft Brewery — Named after an elusive bird spotted by Fort Monroe’s Captain H.M. Merriam in 1905, founder/owner Russel Tinsley and his team pushes the boundaries of traditional beer making with innovative brews.
 

St. George Brewing Company — Specializing in traditional English and German-style ales, St. George is one of the region’s oldest microbreweries, celebrating 20 years in the Hampton area.


Sly Clyde Ciderworks — A rotating roster of hard ciders crafted from 100 percent Virginia apples includes classic ciders as well as limited-edition drafts such as Inkjet (blackberry and mint) and Cut & Run (ginger lemon).


Caiseal Beer & Spirits Co. — The latest arrival to Hampton’s burgeoning beer scene, Caiseal’s house beer is a Kolsch-style ale, while a red ale, stout, IPA, and porter round out the portfolio.
