Miniatures and Small Works Exhibition is now open!

Jones, James Warwick Hilton Village Spring.jpgOver 250 artists living in Hampton Roads were invited to create miniature or small artworks in any media. Miniature two-dimensional works were required to be no larger than 20 square inches. Small two-dimensional works were required to be no larger than 80 square inches. The resulting two-dimensional and three-dimensional works comprise a total of more than 350 artworks.

About the Judge - Carolyn Thompson Dudley received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Masters degree in Psychotherapy from Eastern Virginia Medical School. Her work has been exhibited throughout Virginia and in Maryland and she is an active member of the Hampton Roads arts community.

Pam Oden - The Paisley of Spectrum Yellow.jpgJudge's Statement - "There is a book that I keep in my studio where I keep pictures of and information on all of my artwork. On the cover of this book I have boldly written two questions that I ask myself about my own work. They help me decide if I have captured the spirit of my message and whether or not I used the best techniques: Does it say something? and Is it done well? When considering other's work, I am drawn to those pieces that impress me on a spiritual level first. If I then ask myself, How did they do this?, then I know I have found a masterful work."
