Throughout the year, we offer numerous programs designed to complement our numerous exhibitions and classes while providing artists with expanded creative experiences and fun social opportunities. We hope to see you at one, or more, of the programs below.
Commonly known as HAL, the Hampton Arts League is a membership organization of approximately 325 regional artists which usually meets on the third Sunday of each month at 2:30 pm.
Tuesday Morning Painters
An informal group of HAL members meet in our studio every Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 12:30 to draw and paint without formal instruction, and to socialize.
A membership organization of approximately 70 watermedia artists which usually meets on the fourth Sunday of the month at 2:30 pm.
Poetry Inspired by Art Events
Unique events offering poets the opportunity to write a poem inspired by one of the artworks in our exhibitions and participate in poetry readings scheduled near the exhibitions’ closing date. Poems are posted next to the related artworks, or available in binders in the galleries.
Meet the artists featured in the Hampton Arts League Open Members Exhibition, and learn more about the artworks on display. This event is free and open to the public.

Plein Air Painting Events
Hosted once in the fall and again in the spring, we invite artists to create landscape paintings at sites around Hampton, show artworks at a “wet paint” sale, and compete for cash awards.
Destinations such as Washington DC, Richmond, or other city art museums are sponsored in the fall and spring. Trips afford participants the opportunity to visit major art museums and special exhibitions in the region, while leaving the driving to us.
