Artist Reception
Artists and patrons are invited to attend an afternoon reception to celebrate CHTVAC exhibitions on display. Complimentary food and drinks are served (must be 21+ to consume alcoholic beverages). All receptions are from 3:00pm – 5:00pm unless otherwise noted.

ARTini Presented by Old Point National Bank
Saturday, April 27, 2024, 7:00pm – 10:00pm
ARTini is an event that invites mixologists from the Peninsula’s most prominent restaurants and bars to compete to see who can create the most artistic martini. This inspiring occasion will feature an amazing lineup of the area’s finest food and beverage establishments. Each restaurant will provide an appetizer for the guests to enjoy as well as their artfully delicious martini. Each mixologist will square off with other mixologists as they vie for the People’s Choice Award and Best Overall Martini Award. Each person has the opportunity to vote for their favorite ARTini at the end of the night.
All guests must be 21+. IDs will be checked at the door.
VIP ($75 per person) FEW SPOTS REMAIN - each individual who purchases a VIP ticket receives advanced entry into the event at 6 pm. Also included - individuals will receive a swag bag with discount tickets to art classes and shows. Passed appetizers will be available during this hour.
Competition Ticket ($45 per person) - includes each competitor submission of martinis provided by regional restaurants including Fuller's Raw Bar, Circa 1918 Kitchen + Bar, Cibus Chophouse, Venture Kitchen + Bar, The Baker's Wife/The Grey Goose, and Fin Seafood. Individuals will receive six competition tickets to present one to each restaurant as well as a People's Choice ticket to vote for their favorite.
General Admission ($25 per person) - includes admission into the event with wine and beer available for purchase.

Patrick Evans-Hylton is a Johnson & Wales-trained chef and award-winning food journalist covering tasty trends in broadcast, electronic, and print media since 1995. Read him at VirginiaEatsAndDrinks.com.
Eric Hause is a longtime leader in the Hampton Roads’ LGBT community. He is the publisher of OutLife757 Magazine, founder of the Virginia Queer Film Festival, and producer of Outwork757, Virginia’s LGBT Career Expo. He and his husband Andrew live in Norfolk.
Stormy Blue is a 757 food critic, influencer, and blogger who finds the best and tastiest foods in the area. Stormy is also the owner of Blue Media Management, a Social Media Management Agency located in Hampton Roads, that helps small businesses maximize their social media presence.

Stranger than Fiction: Great Art Heists in History Presented by Anne Kenny-Urban

Discover what Japanese gangsters, bear spray, and daring boat getaways have in common with noteworthy art thefts. In this lecture, you will travel the globe learning why museums from Amsterdam to Zimbabwe have been targets for thieves and what tools they use to elude detection. Find out who got caught…and who did not.
This program has been organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and is supported, in part, by the Paul Mellon Endowment and the Jean Stafford Camp Memorial Fund.
About Instructor
Anne Kenny-Urban is the Executive Director of Agecroft Hall & Gardens, a house museum that showcases daily life in a Tudor manor house. Anne earned her BA at Princeton University, her MA in art history at the University of Chicago, and her MBA at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Prior to her move to Agecroft, she worked for VMFA for nearly a decade.
Hampton Arts League
A membership organization of approximately 300 regional artists. Programs include an annual Open Members Exhibition, discounts for classes, member meetings, and a Tuesday Morning Painters group.

Tuesday Morning / Afternoon Artist Studio
Hampton Arts League members can meet in a classroom Tuesdays from 10 am– 12:30 pm and 4 pm–6 pm to draw and paint without formal instruction and to enjoy the company of other artists.
Poetry Inspired by Art Readings
Poets are invited to write poems inspired by artworks on exhibit and participate in a poetry reading in conjunction with gallery talks. Poems are posted next to the inspirational artworks and available in notebooks in the galleries.
Open Studio
Artists working in painting and drawing can sign up to use studio space when classes are not being held. Independent, individual working only, no materials or instruction are provided. There is a five person maximum.
Arts Meeting Room
During open center hours, arts organizations can hold informal meetings in our upstairs gallery. Up to 25 people. $40 per hour. Chairs and tables provided. Reservations through the visual arts center office only.
